ABOUT US
RED LIGHT CHOCOLATES
OUR STORY
In April 2007, our lives changed forever when we welcomed our tiny daughter into the world 12 weeks early. Weighing just 2lbs 13 ozs, we watched our daughter fight to live. An untimely layoff from corporate America the day Kirstin (Mom) was released from the hospital didn't help matters. We realized how delicate life is, how easily those you love can be taken from you, and the need to have a fall back plan should corporate America strike again. Red Light Chocolates was born from this new found appreciation for life, the desire to spend more time together as a family, and a source of income should we need it.
Kirstin, the owner of Red Light Chocolates, has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and a Master's in Business from North Carolina State University. She attended the Callebaut Chocolate Academy in Chicago where she learned techniques and skills to help launch her business.
Rob has a BS in Business Education from East Carolina University. He started his chocolate career as the dish washer while slowly learning the fine art of chocolate making from Kirstin, coupled with (a lot) of hands on practice. Rob is the master air-brusher and chocolate mold sheller.

Addy, having grown up in the "chocolate business", has been well trained in all areas of chocolate making. In addition to being the master taste-tester, she has also developed her own creations, including a two-time award winnning chocolate . . the Thai Chili Pepper truffle! Now that she's older, Addy now participates in all aspects of the family business . . but resident Quality Engineer (ie taste-tester) remains her favorite role :)

Red Light Chocolates has been featured in many local and regional publications and media outlets. Our chocolates have won numerous awards, including the North Carolina Pepper Festival, many first place finishes at the North Carolina State Fair, as well as both the Youth and Adult "Best in Show - Candy" Awards!
